Not every company event in Calgary wants a sit-down meal. A Call to the Bar reception, a partner announcement, a Friday team lunch, a client open house: these are events where people stand, move between conversations, and eat a little at a time over two or three hours. That is grazing-style catering, and it is the format our corporate clients in Calgary ask for most.
This guide covers how grazing-style catering works with Deep's Delights, which company events it suits, how much food to order, and the logistics that matter in a downtown Calgary office tower. Everything here comes from events we have catered this year, from law firm celebrations to head-office lunches.
What Grazing-Style Catering Means for a Calgary Company Event
A grazing spread is a table (or two) of individually portioned appetizers and desserts that guests return to throughout the event. There is no plating, no buffet line, and no set mealtime. Guests pick up a katori chaat cup, a slider, or a dessert cup on their way between conversations.
With our Indian-fusion menu, almost everything is already built for this. Katori Chaat Cups, Aloo Tikki Sliders, Paneer Naan Bites, Mango Lassi Cheesecake cups and Gulab Jamun Mousse are all single-serve pieces. They hold well on a table, they look full and colourful together, and nobody needs cutlery to enjoy them.
There are two ways to run it:
- Styled setup. We arrive before your event, dress the table, arrange the food on risers with labels, and take everything down afterwards. Our styled setup packages run from Silver at $750 (food display) through Gold with florals, Platinum with decor, and Diamond at $1,500 with branded details such as custom toppers and logos.
- Drop-off. We deliver the food ready to set out. Warm items come in tin warming trays with clear covers, and cold or individual items arrive in the same cups and containers you see in our photos. Your team lays it out on your own tables.

Company Events in Calgary That Work Best as a Grazing Spread
Call to the Bar Celebrations
Every year Calgary law firms welcome newly called lawyers with an afternoon reception at the office. It is a proud, slightly formal occasion with colleagues drifting in from meetings, so the food has to look polished and be easy to eat standing up. This September we styled a Silver setup for a downtown Calgary firm's Call to the Bar celebration: appetizers and desserts arranged on risers in the boardroom, labelled, and cleared away at the end of the day. If your firm has a Call to the Bar coming up, our law firm catering page covers the details.
Office Lunches and Team Appreciation
A grazing lunch delivered at 11:30 lets a team of 25 to 60 eat when their calendars allow rather than at a fixed hour. Individual portions also mean no shared serving spoons and an easy count of how much was eaten. See our guide to employee appreciation lunch catering in Calgary for menu ideas.
Client Appreciation, Open Houses and Networking Events
When clients are in the room, presentation carries more weight. A Gold or Platinum setup with a mocktail station gives people a reason to gather at the table and something to talk about. Our client appreciation catering page has sample spreads for 50 to 100 guests.
AGMs, Board Meetings and Executive Sessions
Smaller and more formal, these events suit a compact spread of four items delivered to the boardroom before the session starts. Read more on board meeting catering and AGM catering in Calgary.
Holiday Parties and Year-End Celebrations
December fills up early in Calgary. A grazing spread with a dessert table and mocktails covers a whole afternoon or evening without a formal meal. Our holiday party catering guide has timing and booking advice.
How Much Food to Order for a Grazing Event in Calgary
For most office events we recommend three to five items for groups under 50, and five to eight items for larger gatherings. Every item has a minimum of 24 pieces, with more available in increments of 12. For a group of 50, ordering 36 to 48 pieces of each item gives everyone a comfortable second and third visit to the table.
A few rules that keep a grazing table balanced:
- Two hearty, two light. Pair filling pieces such as sliders or Chole Kulche with lighter chaats and salads so guests can graze without feeling full after one plate.
- Vegetarian first. Most of our corporate spreads are two-thirds vegetarian, with one non-vegetarian option such as Tandoori Chicken Sliders. It keeps the table inclusive without anyone noticing.
- One or two desserts, in cups. Mango Lassi Cheesecake and Gulab Jamun Mousse are our two most-ordered desserts of 2026 for a reason: they travel well and hold their shape on a table.
Our Most-Ordered Grazing Items in Calgary This Year
Based on what Calgary companies and families actually ordered from us in 2026:
- Appetizers: Aloo Tikki Sliders, Katori Chaat Cups, Tandoori Chicken Sliders, Mini Samosas, Chole Kulche, Finger Sandwiches and Paneer Naan Bites.
- Desserts: Mango Lassi Cheesecake, Gulab Jamun Mousse, Lotus Biscoff Mousse and Rasmalai Cheesecake.
You can build and price any combination on our Build Your Own Package page. Appetizers start from $18 per 24 pieces and desserts from $76 per 24.

Downtown Calgary Logistics: What We Need From You
Office towers in downtown Calgary each have their own rules, and the smoothest events are the ones where we know them a week ahead. When you book a styled setup, we will ask for:
- The building's loading dock or delivery entrance, and whether our driver needs a security clearance or a booked dock time.
- The name and phone number of the person our team should ask for on the day, plus the room or floor.
- Table count and size, and whether the venue provides linens. For a Silver setup we typically ask for two long tables.
- The time the food should be complete. Our team arrives about two hours before that for a styled setup.
- When we can collect our risers and display pieces, usually the same evening or the next morning.
For drop-off orders we simply need a timed delivery window and a contact who can meet the driver. Delivery within Calgary starts at $50, and pickup from our NE Calgary kitchen is always free.
Timing and Food Safety on a Grazing Table
Grazing food is meant to be enjoyed within one to two hours of being set out. Covered savoury items are perfectly happy at room temperature within that window, while dairy-based desserts should stay cool until shortly before serving. For a three-hour event we suggest setting out the desserts in two rounds, and we will plan quantities and timing with you so the table looks as good at the end as it did at the start.
Dietary Needs at Company Events
Our menu is strongly vegetarian, with gluten-friendly items and dairy-free options clearly identified on our Allergen Information Sheet, which we are happy to share when you book. Every item on a styled setup is labelled so guests can choose confidently. While we do our best to prevent cross-contamination, we are not an allergen-free kitchen and cannot guarantee that cross-contamination will not occur.
Frequently Asked Questions About Grazing-Style Company Catering in Calgary
How far in advance should we book grazing catering for a company event?
Two weeks is comfortable for a drop-off order. For a styled setup, three to four weeks gives us the most flexibility with dates, especially in November and December. If your event is sooner, ask anyway and we will tell you honestly whether the kitchen can fit it in.
Can you set up inside a downtown Calgary office tower?
Yes. We regularly set up in downtown towers. We will need the loading dock details, any security clearance the building requires, and a day-of contact. Once we have those, the setup runs like any other.
Do you provide plates, napkins and cutlery?
Almost everything on a grazing table is finger food or served in its own cup, so most events need only napkins. Disposable plates, cutlery and napkins are not included by default, but we can add them to your order.
How long can the food sit out during a reception?
Plan on one to two hours for the best quality. Dairy desserts should stay chilled until shortly before serving. For longer events we stagger the desserts in two rounds.
Can the display be branded for a client event?
Yes. Our Diamond setup package includes branded details such as custom stickers, toothpicks and toppers to match your event theme or logo. Silver, Gold and Platinum cover food display, florals and decor respectively.
